Artist Highlight: Dominik Modlinski
Where Gods Reside by Dominik Modlinski is now available as a Cobble Hill 1000pc puzzle, released in 2026 as part of our Canadian Landscape Series.

Dominik Modlinski doesn’t just paint landscapes, he seeks them out. His work grows from direct encounters with remote terrain, along local-only paths, and in places where arrival is never guaranteed. He immerses himself in each environment, allowing the experience to shape what ultimately appears on the canvas.
That depth is present in every brushstroke, transforming each painting from a striking landscape into a lived story. From geometric rhythms carved into rock and shoreline to subtle transitions of light and bold shifts in colour, his work captures nature in both its stillness and its movement.
The Atlin collection marks a meaningful chapter in that journey. Dominik first arrived in Atlin on his bicycle painting trip from Whitehorse, Yukon to Vancouver, British Columbia. Since then, this remarkable region of northern BC has become an ongoing source of creative inspiration and a base for many of his painting expeditions into Yukon and Alaska.

Originally from Warsaw, Poland, Dominik made Canada his home in 1987 and graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art. His travels span coast to coast across Canada and far beyond, including Antarctica, Greenland, the High Arctic, Africa, and South America. Along the way, he’s built an impressive resume including television productions, a sixth-degree black belt in Karate, Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and representation in galleries across Canada.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring Dominik Modlinski’s work into a new medium, transforming his sweeping landscapes into a puzzle experience that invites you to piece together the wild. Each section assembled echoes the journey behind it: the climb, the patience, the pursuit of untamed beauty - and the reward that follows.
We hope Where Gods Reside brings a sense of wonder to your table.

Artist quote for Where Gods Reside (original 47" x 60" oil on canvas):
"Original painting based on painting and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. One of my favorite scenes to paint is the transition between various mountain environments. The juxtaposition of shapes and colours, always creates inviting and engaging composition. The image captures the moment of when we finally reach the high alpine after a long hike and are rewarded with displayed of alpine flowers and majestic mountains above."
