Letter from Cobble Hill Puzzle Co.

Dear Friends,

We understand the concerns surrounding potential U.S. tariffs and the impact they may have. While we don’t have all the answers, we want to share our perspective and support for Canadian businesses in light of the messages we’ve received from our puzzling community.

While our puzzles are not made in Canada, our heart - and the majority of our team - certainly is. Our talented Canadian employees design the puzzles, posters, and packaging, while our high-quality blue board comes from Europe. The puzzles are then produced in the U.S. before being shipped primarily from our warehouse in Brampton, ON, to retailers and customers across Canada.

It would be a dream to produce our puzzles in Canada, but unfortunately, we have yet to find a Canadian puzzle factory that can print our puzzles in the high volume that we require. We're not a small batch company.

We completely respect and support everyone's right to make purchasing decisions that align with their values. At the same time, we gently ask that shoppers consider the broader impact on Canadian businesses. 98% of our employees live in Canada, and the majority of our business comes from supplying hardworking Canadian retailers who rely on our puzzles to keep their stores thriving.

Many Canadian puzzle companies, like us, manufacture in the U.S. or China, and if boycotting becomes widespread, it could have unintended consequences for the very businesses and workers we all want to support. That said, we do support buying Made in Canada products/puzzles as a priority when given a choice.

Ultimately, we encourage everyone to follow their heart and do what they feel is best for our great nation. We simply hope that in the process, Canadian companies - large and small - continue to be supported for their dedication, creativity, and contributions to our economy.

If tariffs don’t affect our prices, does it make a difference whether a Canadian company manufactures in the U.S. versus in Europe or China? We’d love to hear your thoughts on what factors will matter most when choosing where to buy your puzzles, as it could help us determine the next steps our company should consider. You can use the comment box below and we'll share your feedback with our company.

Thank you for being a valued part of our puzzling community. ❤️
